What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a frequent disorder which usually has one or more pauses of breathing.

The pause of breathing will usually last with a minimum of 10 seconds and will likely to occur 30 times or more in an hour.

What are the Primary Causes of Sleep Apnea?



Being overweight or obese (but there are 50% of people with sleep apnea are not obese)
Large Tonsils or adenoids
Other distinctive physical attributes
Nasal Congestion or Blockage
Throat muscles and tongue relax more that normal during sleep.


Self-Help treatment for sleep apnea

Lose weight
Stop using alcohol, tobacco, and sedatives
Sleep on your side
Elevate the head of your bed 4-6 inches
Maintain regular sleep hours
Use a nasal dilator, breathe right strips or saline nasal spray.
